Mane Maxx Do it Yourself hair Extentions Product Review

I currently have pretty short hair, and can not handle trying to grow out my hair. So I looked at getting hair extentions, but was not happy with hair salon prices.  It was very over priced.  So I began “googling” hair extentions, and was pleasantly surprised to find Mane Maxx Hair extentions.  I bought 1.5 packages of Remi Hair, with the start up kit.  You can only purchase this product at the Mane Maxx Website.

The package arrived about 10 days  after it was confirmed to be shipped. In the start up kit, I received the  Hair, a wax pot, stiring stick, couple of clips, and a loop brush. and a dvd  that shows you how to do it.

It came in a cute package, and the only thing I disliked was the dvd, it is a home video.  So its cheaply done, but granted at least you can tell it is “REAL” and not a “infomercial” if you know what I mean. But perhaps she will re do her video at some point.

So I ended up waiting for my friend to come and help me, but got very frustrated with my hair one day, and decided to start it myself.  It didn’t go so well. I struggled and struggled, and managed to get one row done in about 4 hours. LOL. So I called my friend the next day, and she came over.

We took out what I had done, since it was crooked, and lumpy. The bonds came out easily with a straightner, and didn’t seem to damage my natural hair at all.

Right away after starting, My friend Jennie, said “I can see why they don’t want you to touch them.” and there is a difference in the bonds, on the one’s I didn’t have to mold with my fingers”.

The bonding agent, also sometimes caused a challange, It seemed if the bond got to hot, it wouldn’t attach as nicely, or if it got too cold, it would not attach as well.

Just so you folks know. It took 7 hours to do 7 rows. So that is an hour a row.

I currently have had the bonds/hair in for 2 weeks, and yes, the molded ones do fall out. Currently I have lost about 16 pieces, over the course of two weeks, and each time, it is one of the ones that got handled,  and I accidently got a few with the straightner, since heat is how you take them out.

I never had a problem sleeping with them on, I simply follow the instructions and throw my hair into a pony tail at the base of my neck to go to sleep.

It took about 10 days, where I could actually put my hair up higher than a pony tail at the base of my neck, because it pulled so much, it was very uncomfortable, till then.

My head where the extentions are, is still very itchy at the two week mark. I am hoping this goes away soon.

Also at the 7 day mark, I attempted to wear sunglasses, and could not, as I had extentions to close to my ears, and the arms of the sunglasses would not fit.

The color match is very uncanny, you can not tell the difference between my natural hair and the Remi Hair.

I currently have had no buyers Remorse since purchasing this product. I have had several positive comments, that it looks good, and that if they didn’t know any better, they would never guess it wasn’t my very own hair.

I do think this DYI Hair Extention Kit, is ment for 2 people, at least to start with anyhow. I also imagine, the more times you put the product in, the easier it becomes, as you learn as you do it.

I will up date this post, when I take the extentions out.

Pricing depends on how long of hair you get, and how much of it, etc. So you will have to visit their site, to get your own idea on what it would cost you to do your own hair.

The set I bought with 2 colors in the kit, was about $450.00 Canadian. But I also made sure I got a lot of  hair, since I have thick hair, and a lot of it, and I knew I needed a lot. Also by ordering another color, made it more expensive.  Pricing starts at $229.00 US.

Salon Prices ranged from $800 and up to install and buy the hair. So it was definitly a savings.

The Remi Hair is the most expensive hair, as it is East Indian Hair, and is the best quality.
